At the brand relaunch event held in Lagos on Friday, Chief Executive Officer Obafemi Banigbe described the transformation as a complete evolution. “This is not just a logo change. T2 represents our next chapter — a renewed commitment to innovation, resilience, and customer-centricity,” he said.

The rebrand follows the 2023 acquisition of 9mobile by Lighthouse Telecoms, led by investor Thomas Etuh, and marks the beginning of the “Transformation” phase in the company’s four-stage recovery roadmap: Stabilisation, Modernisation, Transformation, and Growth.

Since the takeover, the company has implemented sweeping reforms, including a new executive team, a revitalized board, and a landmark infrastructure-sharing agreement with MTN Nigeria. This partnership has significantly expanded T2’s network coverage and capacity nationwide.

Chairman of Emerging Markets Telecommunications Ltd, Thomas Etuh, called the rebrand a “rebirth” for the company. “Today marks a new beginning. The journey has been exhausting, but we are rising again. Together with our customers, we are reclaiming lost ground,” he said, expressing gratitude to stakeholders and regulators for their support through the company’s challenges.

Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani, praised the rebrand as a visionary move. “Let this rebrand be more than a change of colours or logo. Let it be a renewed commitment to innovation and service excellence,” he urged.

Representing Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Secretary to the State Government Barr. Bimbola Salu-Hundeyin welcomed T2’s focus on digital innovation, noting its alignment with the state’s vision for a robust digital economy.

The transition to T2 will be implemented in phases to ensure seamless service continuity for existing customers while introducing the new brand identity to the market.
