The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has ordered the arrest of a dismissed staff member, Olakunle Alex Folarin, following his appearance on a viral TikTok matchmaking show hosted by entertainer Lege Miami.
Folarin, who was identified by viewers as an EFCC “officer” during the live dating session, sparked widespread reactions online, prompting public inquiries into his status with the anti-graft agency.
In a statement released via its official X handle on Monday, the EFCC clarified that Folarin was no longer in its service, having been dismissed for certificate forgery.
He previously served as a driver at the Commission’s Ibadan Zonal Directorate.
“The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, condemns in the strongest terms the involvement of one of its former staff, Olakunle Alex Folarin, in a matchmaking programme running on Lege Miami’s social media platforms,” the statement read.
The Commission further revealed that Folarin failed to return official EFCC property, including an identity card, upon his dismissal. EFCC Chairman, Mr. Ola Olukoyede, has since ordered his arrest for unlawful possession of Commission assets.
“The public is advised against associating Folarin’s post-dismissal conduct with the EFCC,” the agency stated.
The EFCC emphasized its commitment to maintaining institutional integrity and distancing itself from any behavior that could misrepresent its values or mislead the public.
