Tinubu Rewards 200 NYSC Honourees with Jobs, Cash, and Scholarships

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved automatic employment, cash awards, and postgraduate scholarships for 200 outstanding National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members in recognition of their exemplary service between 2020 and 2023.

The announcement was made during the President’s NYSC Honours Award Ceremony held at the State House Conference Centre in Abuja.

Represented by the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, President Tinubu praised the honourees for their discipline, patriotism, and selflessness.

Each recipient will receive ₦250,000, totaling ₦50 million in cash awards, alongside a scholarship to pursue postgraduate studies at any Nigerian university.

In a further show of inclusivity, Tinubu also approved federal employment for 10 physically challenged ex-corps members who sustained injuries while serving the nation. “We will never forget their sacrifice,” he affirmed.

The President directed the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation and the Federal Civil Service Commission to immediately begin the employment process for all honourees.

He also reiterated his administration’s commitment to youth empowerment through initiatives in education, technology, skills development, and entrepreneurship.

Encouraging Nigerian youths to remain hopeful, Tinubu urged them to reject divisive forces and continue contributing to national unity and progress.

Among the top male awardees were:

  • Polycarp Nunaya (Adamawa, served in Kwara)
  • Okpogbo Chinedu (Imo, served in Cross River)
  • Dr. Ugwa Mark (Abia, served in Cross River)
  • Rabiu Mayokun (Osun, served in Rivers)

Top female honourees included:

  • Akase Nguwasen (Benue, served in Gombe)
  • Igwe Anne Chikaodi (Enugu, served in Sokoto)
