British actor Idris Elba has declared Lagos the “most amazing city in the world,” praising its vibrant energy and creative talent during an interview at the TIFF Tribute Awards.
Speaking to eTalk TV on the red carpet, Elba shared fond memories of his time in Nigeria’s commercial capital.
“There are so many memories. Lagos, if you have never been there, is the most amazing place, city in the world. I had a great time. The talent there is incredible,” he said.
Elba also highlighted a standout moment from filming his short film Dust to Dreams, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival.
He recalled working with British singer Seal, who embraced his Nigerian heritage by acting in his native accent.
“I got to have Seal acting. He has acted before but this is one he is acting in his accent. You know, his Nigerian heritage,” Elba noted.
He added that the film featured a powerful musical performance by Seal and Nigerian singer Konstance.
“One of the big standout moments is this really amazing song that we wrote for the film, and they performed it at the end. Seal and a lovely artiste called Konstance,” he said.
Elba’s remarks continue his long-standing admiration for African creativity and culture, reinforcing Lagos’s growing influence on the global entertainment stage.
