Nigerian Afrobeats star Oluwatobiloba Daniel Anidugbe, popularly known as Kizz Daniel, has strongly denied reports circulating online that his bank accounts were frozen following an alleged court judgment.
In a statement released on Thursday, the award-winning singer dismissed the claims as “entirely false” and a “deliberate attempt to damage his reputation.”
The controversy began after a viral story alleged that the artist had been ordered to pay €200,000 in damages, which supposedly led to the freezing of his assets.
The report quickly spread across social media platforms and entertainment blogs, sparking concern among fans and industry stakeholders.
Kizz Daniel’s management, however, clarified that no such legal case exists.
“Kizz Daniel has no such case in court, and no accounts have been frozen. We urge fans, partners, and the general public to disregard this fabricated story,” the statement read.
According to reports from Okay.Ng and The Herald, the false claims were linked to a long-standing dispute involving the Afrobeats Meets Berlin 2022 concert, where promoters allegedly failed to meet contractual obligations despite using the singer’s name and likeness to sell tickets.
The management further indicated that legal action would be taken against those responsible for spreading the misinformation, stressing that the singer remains focused on his career and upcoming projects.
Kizz Daniel, who rose to prominence with his 2014 hit single Woju, has since become one of Nigeria’s most successful Afrobeats exports. With global hits such as Buga, Lie, and Twe Twe, he has built a loyal international fanbase and continues to headline major concerts across Africa, Europe, and beyond.
Industry observers note that the incident highlights the growing challenge of misinformation in the digital age, where unverified stories can quickly gain traction and threaten the reputations of public figures.
