The All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) has announced a record-breaking 10,717 entries for its 2025 edition, marking a significant leap from the 9,076 submissions received in the previous cycle.
The surge reinforces AFRIMA’s reputation as Africa’s premier platform for celebrating and promoting the continent’s music on a global scale.
The entry window, which ran from May 27 to August 8, welcomed submissions from across Africa and the diaspora, including songs, albums, and music videos.
Contributors ranged from established and emerging artistes to producers, songwriters, video directors, DJs, dancers, choreographers, and record labels.
Regional Breakdown of Submissions:
- West Africa: 5,215 entries (48.68%)
- Southern Africa: 2,080 entries (19.42%)
- Eastern Africa: 804 entries (7.50%)
- Central Africa: 291 entries (2.72%)
- Northern Africa: 267 entries (2.49%)
- African Diaspora: 75 entries (0.70%)
Adjudication began on August 8 in Lagos, led by AFRIMA’s 13-member International Jury composed of seasoned music professionals from across the continent and diaspora.
The jury will screen, categorize, and score entries based on originality, quality, impact, and cultural relevance, with the process concluding on August 17.
Commenting on the milestone, Southern African jury member Adam Tiran said:
“The record number of entries for AFRIMA 2025 is more than just a statistic; it shows how alive, creative, and unstoppable African music is right now. It’s about growing confidence among artistes that AFRIMA is the stage where their work can be seen, respected, and celebrated on a global scale.”

- Voting Closes: November 29, 24 hours before the Awards Night
All voting results will be monitored and audited by an international firm to ensure transparency and credibility.
AFRIMA 2025, hosted in partnership with the African Union, the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and Lagos State, will take place from November 25 to 30. Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu will lead hosting efforts for the week-long celebration, which will feature:

- AFRIMA Music Village Concert
- Nominees Party
- The Grand Awards Night (broadcast live to over 84 countries)
