Bayern Munich have officially completed the signing of Colombian forward Luis Díaz from Premier League champions Liverpool in a deal reportedly worth up to €75 million ($86.5 million). The 28-year-old has penned a contract with the Bundesliga giants that runs until 2029.
Bayern CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen praised the acquisition:
“In Luis Díaz, we have succeeded in bringing in one of the best left wingers in the Premier League. He brings real player character from Liverpool to FC Bayern – he’s won silverware with every one of his clubs to date.”
Díaz expressed his excitement about the move:
“It means a lot to me to be part of FC Bayern. They’re one of the biggest clubs in the world. I want to help my new team with my way of playing football and my character. My goal is to win every possible title, and that’s what we’ll work for every day as a team.”
During his time at Anfield, Díaz won the Premier League, FA Cup, and League Cup, making 50 appearances and scoring 17 goals last season under manager Arne Slot, helping Liverpool clinch their 20th English top-flight title.
His absence from Liverpool’s recent 4–2 friendly defeat to AC Milan in Hong Kong fueled speculation about his future, which has now been confirmed.
Díaz arrives at Bayern as a much-needed reinforcement following the long-term injury to Jamal Musiala, who suffered a broken leg and dislocated ankle during the Club World Cup. His signing is expected to fill the void left by Musiala and add depth to Bayern’s attacking options.
