Arsenal have received a timely boost ahead of their highly anticipated Premier League clash with Liverpool, as striker Gabriel Jesus edges closer to full fitness following a lengthy injury layoff.
The 28-year-old Brazilian has been sidelined since January after suffering a knee injury during Arsenal’s FA Cup third-round defeat to Manchester United.
He subsequently underwent ACL surgery and has spent the past seven months in recovery.
On Sunday, Jesus shared a video of himself training on grass via social media, accompanied by an emotional caption:
“It’s been seven months of pain, uncertainty, and anxiety. Today, I finally feel light, like a child playing football again. GOD IS GREAT.”
His return is expected to significantly strengthen Arsenal’s attacking options, especially following the summer arrivals of Noni Madueke, Viktor Gyokeres, and Eberechi Eze.
In addition to Jesus’ progress, the Gunners were relieved to learn that injuries sustained by Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard during Saturday’s match against Leeds are not as serious as initially feared.
Both players are expected to be available for selection soon.
With key players returning to fitness, Arsenal’s squad depth looks promising as they prepare to face Liverpool in what could be a pivotal early-season fixture.
