Everything You Need to Know About JAMB Change of Institution and Course

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially opened its portal for candidates who wish to change their choice of institution or course for the 2025/2026 admission exercise. This process gives students a second chance to align their UTME results with suitable programmes and schools.

Below is a comprehensive breakdown of everything you need to know about the process.

When Did the Portal Open?

JAMB activated the change of course and institution portal on June 3, 2025, just a few weeks after the release of the UTME results. Historically, this service becomes available between May and July each year, and allows students to adjust their choices before universities begin their admission screenings.

How Many Times Can a Candidate Apply?

JAMB allows candidates to make changes up to two (2) times only. After exhausting these attempts, no further modifications can be made.

Deadline for Change of Institution and Course

JAMB does not fix a strict closing date. Instead, the portal remains open until institutions complete their admission processes.

However, it is strongly advised that candidates make changes early to avoid missing post-UTME screenings in their new institutions.

Important Things to Consider Before Applying

  • Ensure your UTME score and O’Level subjects meet the cut-off mark and subject combination for the new course or institution.

  • Each institution sets its own Post-UTME/Screening timetable, so apply early.

  • Changes are irreversible once submitted. Review all entries carefully before final submission.

  • Only process changes via the JAMB portal or accredited CBT centres to avoid fraud.

  • After the change, check your JAMB CAPS profile under “My Choices” to confirm that your new selection reflects correctly.
