Hold Governors, Senators Accountable Too, Not Just Tinubu – Tacha Tells Nigerians

Former Big Brother Naija housemate and social media influencer, Natacha Akide, popularly known as Tacha, has urged Nigerians to broaden their demands for accountability beyond President Bola Tinubu, stressing that governors, senators, and local government chairmen also bear responsibility for the country’s governance challenges.

Tacha urges Nigerians to hold governors, senators, and local government chairmen accountable, not just President Tinubu, after ₦2.2 trillion FAAC disbursement.

In a viral video posted on Monday, Tacha referenced the recent ₦2.2 trillion disbursement by the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) to federal, state, and local governments, arguing that while funds are available, they are often mismanaged at the grassroots level.

“₦44 billion, I didn’t say million, ₦44 billion has been disbursed to a local government chairman. Watch how they’ll do absolutely nothing with it, because at the end of the day, they understand that Nigerians will come out and drag Tinubu. They’ll come out and drag the presidency,” she said.

Tacha criticised the tendency of Nigerians to focus their anger solely on the president or Lagos State, which she described as one of the better-performing states, while neglecting to hold underperforming local leaders accountable.

“It be like say only two people Nigerians like to drag for this country. Every Nigerian has believed that their problem is Tinubu. Even with the fact that as little as a local government chairman’s office is, their responsibilities are a lot and they are absolutely doing nothing,” she added.

The reality star further challenged citizens to know their representatives and demand accountability from them.

“Money has been given to your state governors, money has been given to your local government chairman, your House of Reps members, your senators. Hold them by their neck, let them deliver. If you start dragging these people individually, we’ll see that Nigeria will change,” she said.

Tacha concluded by urging Nigerians to “drag everybody” in leadership positions, insisting that meaningful change will only come when all tiers of government are held to the same standard of scrutiny.

The FAAC’s August 2025 allocation of ₦2.2 trillion marked one of the highest monthly disbursements in recent years, intensifying debates about transparency and accountability in the use of public funds.
