A local hunter sustained gunshot injuries during a daring rescue operation led by the Nigerian Army to free two seminarians abducted from Ivianakpodi Minor Seminary in Agenebode, Edo State.
Security analyst Zagazola Makama shared details of the mission on X, revealing that the operation, conducted in collaboration with local vigilantes and hunters, targeted a suspected kidnappers’ enclave in Alarke village, located beyond Awara in Kogi State.
The rescue team reportedly advanced into the area around 5:15 a.m. on Sunday, but was ambushed by the abductors during the operation.
Mohammed Abubakar, a 30-year-old hunter, was injured in the exchange and has since been transported to Cross Nations Consultant Hospital in Lokoja for medical care.
Efforts to secure the safe release of the seminarians and apprehend the suspects remain ongoing.
The Nigerian Army praised the bravery and support of the vigilantes and hunters involved, assuring the public that the victims would soon be reunited with their families.
