When most people think of motivation, money tops the list. But not for Davido. The Afrobeats icon recently shared that his commitment to music comes from a deeper place- and it is not tied to his bank account.
“I’ve got billions waiting for me,” he said in a now-viral video. “If I quit working today, I’d still be beyond set for life. But I keep going, because I love what I do.”
Now 32, Davido (real name David Adeleke) reflected on the mental strength it takes to keep pushing in an industry full of pressure and unpredictability. His grit, he says, is self-made. “Sometimes I have to remind myself- it is another day, another David. Get up and grind.”
“I’m regretting to myself for being hardworking. From today, if I don’t work again in my life, I have billion of dollars but a lot of odds against me is why I said fvxc it , I gotta do this” – Davido

That drive has powered his journey since 2012, when he burst onto the scene with the unstoppable hit Dami Duro off his debut album Omo Baba Olowo. More than a decade later, he’s still setting the tempo for African music worldwide.
Davido’s message? Real success isn’t just about what you earn- it is about what fuels your soul.
