JAMB Sets Up Committee to Probe Withheld UTME Results

JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, inaugurated the committee on Monday in Abuja, expressing concern over the increasing sophistication of examination fraud.

According to him, the results of 6,458 candidates are currently being withheld pending the outcome of the investigation.

“This year we came across a number of strange things, and we felt that it would be better if we expanded our resources,” Oloyede stated. “And we believe that God has endowed this nation with a lot of resources that we can tap from.”

He explained that while 141 cases of conventional malpractice have already been forwarded to JAMB’s disciplinary committee, the newly inaugurated panel will focus on more complex infractions.

These include biometric manipulation, identity fraud, and attempts to compromise the local area networks of accredited Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres.

Among the extraordinary tactics flagged were image blending, falsification of albinism, and finger pairing – methods that suggest a shift from traditional cheating to more technologically advanced schemes.

Oloyede tasked the committee with delivering its findings within three weeks, emphasizing the urgency and importance of restoring integrity to the examination process.
