The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has confirmed an overwhelming response to its 2025 recruitment exercise, receiving a staggering 573,523 applications for just 3,927 available positions across the Superintendent, Inspectorate, and Customs Assistant cadres.
Following a rigorous document screening process, 286,697 candidates have been shortlisted to proceed to the next phase: an online Computer-Based Test (CBT) scheduled to run from September 14 to 21, 2025.
The CBT reflects the Service’s commitment to transparency, fairness, and accessibility in its selection process.
According to NCS spokesperson Abdullahi Maiwada, candidates must take the test using a laptop or desktop computer equipped with a webcam and full-screen display.
Mobile phones are not permitted. Facial verification will be required at login, and candidates are advised to maintain a neat appearance to avoid recognition issues.
The CBT platform is highly sensitive to noise, movement, and window switching.
Any distractions or attempts to navigate away from the test screen may result in automatic logout or disqualification for malpractice.
To help candidates prepare, the NCS will conduct a mandatory pre-test exercise two days before the main CBT.
Shortlisted applicants will receive two separate links – one for the practice session and another for the actual exam.
Applicants for the Superintendent Cadre (Level 8) will also undergo an additional CBT in a later phase, while those in the Inspectorate and Customs Assistant cadres are exempt from this extra round.
The NCS emphasized that the recruitment process remains strictly merit-based and urged candidates to rely solely on official communication channels for updates.
