A harrowing incident unfolded on the Itobe-Anyagba Expressway as gunmen ambushed a Peace Mass Transit bus near Ogbabo Junction, abducting nine passengers in broad daylight.
The attack occurred around 4:20 p.m. on Thursday, according to security analyst Zagazola Makama, who shared details via social media. Eyewitness accounts suggest the assailants emerged from the surrounding bush, fired shots, and forced the bus to a halt.
The bus driver, Sunday Okechi, and six passengers managed to flee the scene, but nine others were forcibly taken into the forest by the attackers.
Security operatives swiftly arrived at the location and recovered the abandoned bus (registration number ENZ-55 XS) along with a blue Toyota Carina ‘E’. Both vehicles have been secured.
A coordinated search and rescue mission is now underway, involving members of the Nigerian security agencies, the Vigilante Group of Nigeria, and local hunters. Their goal: to rescue the kidnapped victims and apprehend the perpetrators
