Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has extended financial support to 500 women in Abia State through her Renewed Hope Initiative Women Economic Empowerment Programme.
The initiative, aimed at boosting small-scale enterprises and fostering community development, was launched on Friday in Umuahia.
Representing the First Lady at the event, the wife of Abia State Governor, Mrs. Priscilla Chidinma Otti, praised the programme as a strategic intervention in the fight against poverty and unemployment among Nigerian women.
“This programme is not just about supporting businesses,” Mrs. Otti said.
“It is about securing the future of families, educating children, and uplifting entire communities.”
Each beneficiary received a grant of ₦50,000, which Mrs. Otti described as a seed for growth and financial independence. She urged the women to invest the funds wisely in expanding their businesses and contributing to the economic vitality of their communities.
Mrs. Otti also highlighted the broader impact of the Renewed Hope Initiative, noting that millions of families across Nigeria have already benefited from its empowerment schemes.
She made emphasis on the importance of continued support for the First Lady’s efforts, stating that access to funding, education, and tools for self-reliance would yield generational change.
The programme, which has been rolled out in multiple states, is a show of the First Lady’s commitment to inclusive development and the economic upliftment of women at the grassroots level.
