Police Neutralize Kidnappers in Kebbi, Recover AK-47 During Forest Operation

The Kebbi State Police Command has confirmed the death of two suspected kidnappers following a gun battle along the Tungargiwa–Saminaka road in Shanga Local Government Area.

According to the command’s spokesperson, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, the incident occurred on Sunday after officers received intelligence about a gang planning to ambush travelers.

Acting swiftly, a joint team of police and other security operatives launched a tactical operation in the surrounding forest.

During the confrontation, two suspects were fatally shot while others fled with gunshot wounds. Security personnel recovered an AK-47 rifle, a magazine, and live rounds of ammunition at the scene.

Commissioner of Police, CP Bello M. Sani, praised the operatives for their swift response and courage, noting that ongoing patrols in Shanga and neighboring communities have significantly contributed to reducing criminal activity in the region.

He urged residents to remain alert and continue sharing credible intelligence with law enforcement agencies, reaffirming the command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property across Kebbi State.
