Tinubu Declares Nigeria’s Global Standing Restored Through Bold Reforms

President Bola Tinubu has declared that his administration’s sweeping economic reforms have begun yielding tangible results, stabilising Nigeria’s economy and restoring its global reputation.

Speaking at the State House on Tuesday during an audience with the Soun of Ogbomosoland, Oba Ghandi Olaoye, Orumogege III, and other royal dignitaries, Tinubu likened the nation’s recovery to a patient revived from critical condition.

“The bleeding has stopped. Haemorrhage is gone; the patient is alive,” he said.

The President attributed past economic woes to years of “neglect, fake records, smuggling, and corruption,” which he said had eroded Nigeria’s revenue base and international credibility.

He emphasised that his administration’s decisive actions-including the removal of fuel subsidies and foreign exchange reforms-were necessary to halt the decline and reposition the country for growth.

Among the key initiatives highlighted was the establishment of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), designed to ensure that no student drops out due to poverty.

“Education is the greatest weapon against poverty,” Tinubu affirmed, adding that infrastructure development remains a top priority.

Oba Olaoye praised the President’s courage in implementing reforms, noting that the removal of fuel subsidy and forex adjustments were already showing positive effects.

He also commended the awarding of the long-awaited contract for the dualisation of the Oyo-Ogbomosho Road, calling it a vital economic artery linking the Southwest to the North.

The monarch requested federal intervention in Ogbomoso’s water and power supply, the upgrading of its General Hospital to a Federal Medical Centre, and the establishment of a research institute to harness the agricultural potential of the region’s mangoes and cashew nuts.

President Tinubu pledged to engage relevant ministers to address these concerns and lauded Oba Olaoye’s efforts in modernising traditional institutions.

He also acknowledged the contributions of Ogbomoso indigenes in his administration, including FIRS Chairman Zacch Adedeji and BPP DG Debo Adedokun.

The delegation included five other monarchs representing Ogbomoso’s councils, as well as prominent community leaders and presidential aides.
