Afrobeats sensation Tiwa Savage has spoken candidly about the emotional toll of her sex tape leak in 2021, describing it as one of the darkest periods of her life.
In a recent interview with British media personality Zeze Mills, Savage revealed that the simultaneous loss of her father and the release of the intimate video left her deeply traumatized.
“My dad died and my sex tape was released. The only way I could have survived was not to think about it,” she said.
The singer, who had previously disclosed that she was being blackmailed over the tape, said the experience forced her to shut down emotionally in order to cope.
Reflecting on her journey, Savage expressed gratitude for still being able to share her story.

“Being here on the couch with you is such a blessing. Just the fact that you even want to talk to me… it feels good,” she said.
On her personal life, Savage admitted she has never truly experienced love, despite past relationships and even marriage.
“I don’t think I’ve experienced true love apart from my son,” she said, adding that her past relationships were more about infatuation than genuine affection.
Tiwa Savage was previously married to her former manager, Tunji Balogun (Teebillz), with whom she shares a son, Jamil. The couple divorced in 2018.
