How It Started

Like many great initiatives, the festival began with modest origins. There were no major sponsors, just a dedicated team and support from a few private investors. But that didn’t deter them. Lafia came alive with traditional drummers, masquerade performances, and musical acts that highlighted Nasarawa’s culture as strong, proud, and ready to shine.

What truly made the day memorable was the audience. People described it as “a blast” and “a moment that made history.” It wasn’t merely an event; it was a celebration of identity and pride.

The Afro Fest 1.0 stood out in many ways:

For Music & Entertainment, performers ranged from Afrobeat to highlife, DJs and live presenters kept the atmosphere vibrant.

What We Know About Future Events

The festival team has hinted at something even more exciting. Imagine this: two full days of celebration. One day dedicated to tradition featuring workshops, fashion, food, and crafts. The other day filled with music, performances, and youth showcases.

NAF Moment

There are rumors that Nasarawa Afro Fest 2.0 may be organized in collaboration with the Nasarawa State Government. If this occurs, it could become one of Nigeria’s premier cultural events, alongside the Calabar Carnival and Argungu Festival.

Although the complete details are still secret, one thing is certain: this is not just another event. It is a movement. Blaqcheque Events is creating something that could establish Nasarawa as a cultural and tourism hub.

A festival like this does more than provide entertainment. It:

  1. Protects Heritage by honoring traditions from all 13 local government areas.
  2. Empowers Youth by offering them a platform to shine in music, dance, and business.
  3. Boosts the Economy through tourism, hospitality, transport, and local crafts.
  4. Fosters Unity by uniting people from various backgrounds.
  5. The first edition sowed the seeds. Now, those seeds are blossoming into something significant.

So, Will There Be another Nasarawa Afro Festival?

During an interactive session with Ororobo Frank Zik, Head of the Nasarawa Afro Fest Organizing Committee, the feedback was “Absolutely, something thrilling is coming”.

The first one demonstrated that the concept works. The next one is set to be bigger, better, and even more impactful.

While we are not certain yet, if the rumors are accurate, Nasarawa Afro Fest 2.0 will not just be a festival. It will be a cultural revolution.
